Exhibition this Week, Packing up the Next

Hello all,

Welcome to my blog, please feel free to look at other entries :)

So the topic at hand is of course the exhibition! It was a somewhat stressful week as we all had to prepare and print out our work, and fit it all in the allocated space! Thankfully, mine did not take too long to sort out. I even printed out some.. prints to sell, hopefully some people bought some.

This is the last week it is open for, from 10AM to 4PM, this monday (6th) to friday (10th). At the University of Cumbria on Brampton Road. (Cumbria, UK)

GUESS WHAT GUYS! :D

I'M SO HAPPY I COULD WRITE THIS ENTIRE BLOG IN CAPS! XD

But I won't so it won't appear as if I am shouting at you, out loud, or however you take capital letters in EVERY word, sentence, paragraph, you get the gist.

So the BIG NEWS is.....

I got a new tablet x3
It's the Wacom Intuos Medium graphics tablet, pen and touch 8)

And let me tell you...
it's shiny!!
That may be because it just came out the box, but I mean 'shiny' in terms of it's my new baby!

There are so many appropriate Austin Power GIF's... (JIFF! yes, JIFF! not -g-iff. Jiff like how the man himself said it's pronounced.)

My next reaction is again Austin... dancing ;)

Okay okay okay(!)

Here are some photo's of the lovely thing...

Hand for size reference.
That box was humongous!
And there it is right on my desk. I obtained it by throwing a pokeball at it to catch it, and then it became my new best friend. Don't worry copics, I still wuv chu v.v

FIRST IMPRESSION

It's a tablet that's pretty much up to date in terms of technology, it's no cintiq but heh, they're a bit more expensive as to what I can (actually) afford.
So in terms of size, I think it's decent for my size screens (they're about 21" I think...), as I like a bit more room to draw when on a larger screen.
My previous tablet (wacom bamboo pen fun and touch) is a lot smaller and the size of the tablet pretty much fits inside the drawing space on this new one. The small one I obtained when I had a laptop :)

Going onto how it draws, I think it draws amazingly, it feels like real paper, and the rubber actually feels rubbery against the tablet. With the pen you can hold it at different angles, and on photoshop it draws on that angle! I don't know if it works with other software like SAI...

On my prevoius wacom I didn't really use the quick access buttons, but I may start using them on this one. I set the pen to how I had it on my old one, where I have hand/pan tool on the first button, so I'm just getting used to it and the settings I can adjust. As you can see on the last photo, there's a very handy(! ;) heh, get it, HANDY?) pen holder, and inside that there are extra nibs! (which I haven't checked out yet...)

One of the best parts of this tablet is that fact is it can be WIRELESS! I don't know about my fellow readers, but when there were wires everywhere I just kept getting tangled in it when I took breaks or moved, which proved to be a bit of a pain in the ... :) honkadonk.
As with every wireless object, it needs charged. So it comes with the suitable wires, and the other USB's for setting up wireless. OH OH OH! In the side of the tablet, it comes with a USB holder, so when you're travelling pop it in there and it won't get lost! I was confused when I first saw the hole with nothing inside... So it's easily transportable. I heard you can just use a laptop bag to carry it... (perhaps I should dig out my Totoro one and see if it fits so it can sits) :D

Now here's an impression of how the tablet reacted to me;

Here are a few snapshots of my quick practice... don't laugh :< I'll be better, I swear :<
Just go look at my website if you want to see real art xD website instagram facebook

Thanks for reading my review, feel free to follow me, and hit me up. Sorry for the overuse of emotes XD I'm just... excited.

A new project is up and coming!

That is right! New project coming right up!

My next project involves box making, leaflet and sticker making, super excited!

It's been awhile since I've been able to 'design' something, and by this I mean more graphic design, sure I'm an illustrator but it is nice to do something else for a little bit. Here are a few shots of my latest;

This project is about saving the bees, since their numbers are falling it is very scary (and horrible.) Without the bees we will have no pollination which mean no plants- vegetables, flowers, fruit etc. Farmers jobs would be going down because there'd be no plants.
And since there is a decline in bees, it is such a shame since we need them and they need us, even spiders play a job in the world (eating your spiders in your house for once. I like to keep my pet spiders in the corner so they eat the flies in the summer when they come ;) )

Life Drawing - Art Dump

Hi, all!

Well I'm not going to upload all 57 photos again, it took too long and some of them uploaded upside down! 'Twas a pain to straighten up individually -_- So, this is an art dump from my life drawing class. The mediums I used are: quink ink, graphite/pencil, acrylic paint.
I know the quink ink looks like coffee.. :/ I don't like it for that but the results right after painting it are great. Maybe I should stick to indian ink, but that quink ink cost a lot... -_-

Some of these drawings/paintings aren't great but it's just myself learning the human form. This is a great way to practice and better my skill.

Also, be sure to check out my facebook page and follow me for daily-not-so-daily posts :D
(I update that more than this v_v)

Life Drawing

Hi, everyone

I should really post more often! I do apologise.

Well, here's an art dump of the past few life drawing sessions I've had, I haven't got photos of all my work but at least you can see what I've been up to and how much I've improved/what skill level I'm at. Also, that's Quink Ink I'm using... It's great for...ink drawings, but it does change colour after awhile...

As you can see; we've just started on colour! Warm tones bring it  forward, cool tones make it appear distant. The second attempt is more of a rendering of skin tone/colour. I really enjoy life drawing, however stressful, I get a great feeling afterwards - accomplishment!

Also, here are a couple other drawings I made (copies) from a previous project. I had to make them as accurate as I could!

And last but least; check out this cool ink bubble that formed on my art book!
I wish I could do it again!

It's been awhile... v_v (Vanellope and life drawing)

Ohh, dear!
I do apologize!

Hmmm.. well, let's start off with Vanellope from Wreck-it Ralph!

I used Ai Illustrator CS6 to recreate Vanellope when she turns into a princess! Or, restored, really.
I was told to use patterns and gradients. I think it all ties in well.... :3

Next up; life drawing!
I had so much fun in my last session. Here's a ... Here's plenty of drawings for you.

In these sessions we were playing with tone, I really enjoyed that as it gave my inspiration. I like how rough and fast the sketches are, creates a raw image but you can see what the artist (I) is (am) thinking.
It's been 2 years since I last went to a life drawing class..
And I can honestly say I'm so happy to be back!

June Tabor - The Scarecrow ~~ Making an album cover ~~

My lastest project is to make an album cover, as stated, to which June Tabor sang.
Here are some images in the making

As I make more, I'll be sure to upload them! This post will be edited, so definitely, please come back :)

DeviantART

Good evening!

I shall be talking about DeviantART. I know how much my tutors love it which is why I'm posting it ;) No, not really. But I have a right to continue with DA whether they like it or not! It's not like I'm using DA for my projects, but it's for me, I like to roam it, find new artists, watch them etc etc. Also I'm an admin on a figure drawing group so I can't just up and leave XD Anyway, I'm posting my DeviantArt link here because I have decided to open commissions once more. I want to be able to sell some art and make customers happy. Also to bring in some  pocket money. ;) My dA

I ...forgot what I was going to say because I got distracted by the TV - The Day After Tomorrow.....

Oh! I have cleared up my gallery and have made folders to make it easier to navigate, and to pick out which media you choose to view. I deleted some old and weak works. Please let me know if this was a good move! Gallery.

And now to end this post with a sketch

My Artist Journal

I'm still struggling on how I can make/start my artists journal. I have been thinking over and over about it, and I believe I've gotten nowhere. I did make a mindmap of a few ideas but I think they're a bit... bland, maybe?
Here I've taken some photos of the mindmap/brainstorm or whichever you prefer to call it...

I really am a cat lady. And if André wasn't here, I really would be a mad cat lady, because I know I would at least have two :'D But yes, I think Odin has become a major part of my life, and I love him to pieces ^O^ <3
Yeah.. So. I really love travelling, but I just don't have the money for it, which is crappy, but hey, maybe next year.

I was left with a pile of books, and I was having a small read through them, and they gave me some ideas, but nothing concrete. Ideas in way I could portray my journal, different ideas I could put in. Like these kinds of things... If I remember the names of the books I'm about to show, I shall write them down...

Which I'm afraid the first book I shall preview is someones book I can't remember the name or title of, sorry!

I do believe it was a woman that published this journal. I think my tutor said that she wrote about  when she  visited the garden, and if her neighbors would say "hello" or not, and other things that related to her garden and small exchanges of friendly faces. I do agree, too. Thinking about how small and "squidgy" her writing is, right? It's quite hard to read, yep. I do apologise for the alignment of my images.

So here's the next book which I found really interesting. I'm afraid I don't know the author, either ^^;

Here's another book, mostly doodles I found interesting. I do believe it was a rather heavy biiiig book.

...I think next time I have a ton of picture to upload, I'll just mesh them together as a montage instead, so it would look neater and less fidgety when uploading and maneuvering.  I must ask the tutor if one is allowed to borrow some of these books...
But that's the last of these images!

So... Yeah, roaming the internet for answers, perhaps I should just go for it. Jot down whatever comes to mind, draw, paint, collage, cut out, stick in, lots of useful materials. I think that may be the plan. Perhaps it would develop from a cocoon to a beautiful butterfly ^_^
... See, that's the problem, Carlisle, or England in general reeeeaaally sucks for weather. Back in SA they are in summer!! There'd be a ton more things I could add to a journal about in there. From culture, animals - wild even, animal parks, the weather, the beach.... Oh, man.

Anyway, back to this topic, here I've found some useful webby's.

What You Can Add To Your Journal

I'm quite inspired from reading all this, and checking out some websites like of that above! Now the problem lies wherein to buy a journal book. I do go to uni tomorrow to finish off my ceramics, so I shall buy it the, along with superglue... ( ¬__¬ ). <-- Didn't do something right and is paying the consequences, loss of marks, possibly. Pity. Never mind.

Anyhoo, here's the ending of this post.
What do you think of my new layout, the background, and general aesthetics  I was hoping to upload one of my own images as the background, but I'm having trouble firguring out the problem with size and whatnot, since I don't use the HTML tab...

Hope this helps any others that need it! :3
